chicagonightdtwn.jpgDowntown Chicago at Night8 viewsFlying out of Chicago's airports at night often was very pretty and gave a great contrast to our northeastern cities. While our cities show highly irregular patterns of light, Chicago shows a sprawling rectangular grid except for the lakeshore and immediate downtown area in the upper right part of this aerial photo. Unfortunately, the trade-off between ISO setting and shutter speed fro these night shots made for quite a bit of noise in the photo.2 commentsEd Hodgson

rometempleatnight.jpgThe Temple at Night13 viewsOne of the things that fascinated me in Rome was the overlay of modern and ancient. This runied temple and surroundings were at the end of the tram line we used to get into Rome from our conference hotel and surrounded by more modern city buildings. This shot was grabbed while waiting for the tram to return to the hotel after dinner. I didn't have a tripod with me, so had to do the best I could handheld. 2 commentsEd Hodgson
