MtSheol.jpgMount Sheol5 viewsOn our hike back down from the Plain of Six Glaciers, we found the clouds had lifted enough to give us this view up the opposite wall of the valley into Mt. Sheol. I found the strange cloud shrouded peaks particularly interesting.2 commentsEd HodgsonMar 13, 2017
Exposure.jpgExposure3 viewsWhen we reached the upper end of Lake Louise, the sound of voices high above us drew our attention to this intrepid soul in what seemed a most precarious position high on the cliff. Although I couldn't see it, I hope and presume he had a belay rope, but still could see no evident path for him to move beyond the daunting overhangs just above him.Ed HodgsonMar 13, 2017
BreakingThruedit.jpgBreaking Through (cropped)9 viewsAfter reflecting on Jay's comment on the original post of this image, I settled on the tighter crop shown here. Cropping in this way, I felt the need to brighten up the shadowed area on the left of the image costing me a little contrast over-all. Comments on whether or not this seems a better image than the original and suggestions on alternative approaches are invited.4 commentsEd HodgsonMar 07, 2017
PatternsMerganser.jpgPatterns - Merganser Sunset14 viewsI spotted this merganser swimming and diving in Newport Harbor near sunset and worked him a while before getting a couple of shots including this one that clearly said "patterns" to me.Ed HodgsonMar 07, 2017
MtVictoria.jpgMount Victoria7 viewsThe clouds stayed with us after lunch, but Mt. Victoria loomed above us in a brief cameo appearance, her face veiled in clouds.Ed HodgsonMar 02, 2017
LookingBack.jpgLooking back9 viewsLooking back down the trail as we descended, we found the clouds had lifted just enough to give us a clear view back down the trail to the lake and the hotel at its foot. It was a nice scene even though the color in the lake was muted somewhat by the cloud cover.Ed HodgsonMar 02, 2017
VictoriaGlacier.jpgThe Victoria Glacier7 viewsA little further up the trail, we could see the toe of the Victoria Glacier below us and trace its flow between the base of Mount LeFroy's lower cliffs and the lateral moraine we had followed up the valley.Ed HodgsonFeb 25, 2017
LunchAmongClouds.jpgLunch Among the Clouds8 viewsAt the end of our hike, Kathy reaped a reward she had talked about for years, a cup of tea and lunch at The Plain of 6 Glaciers Tea House, high above our starting point on the shore of Lake Louise. 2 commentsEd HodgsonFeb 25, 2017

Granby_Boys_Basketball_Black_and_White.jpg10 viewsThis a shot from a Granby basketball game that I felt fit the scavenger hunt word perfectly, while processed in black and white, the two players are black and white and their uniforms are black and white.. and I felt the composition was pretty good.1 commentsJay HarderFeb 15, 2017

PeaksBreakOut.jpgBreaking Through10 viewsAs we climbed on paralleling the lateral moraine, the surrounding peaks and blue sky above began to break through the clouds revealing a realm of stunning beauty.4 commentsEd HodgsonFeb 10, 2017
TheMitre.jpgThe Mitre14 viewsAcross the valley from us, The Mitre rose precipitously above the LeFroy Glacier flanked by the lower cliffs of Mts LeFroy and Aberdeen, still bearing tattered remains of the dissipating clouds.Ed HodgsonFeb 10, 2017

IMG_1605-1.jpgHarvey Mountain Bridge (Ghost Bridge)8 viewsAbout all that remains of the once village of Colebrook River are this rusted, iron bridge, the road on its east side, stumps of old trees, and, traversing the west side of the lake, still drivable old Rt 8 (when it's not under water) ; Colebrook Ct - Sep 2016 Vern WellsFeb 09, 2017
IMG_1603-1.jpgHarvey Mountain Bridge6 viewsIn normal times the bridge is totally covered by water. When the dam was built some half century ago the bridge spanned the West Branch of the Farmington River in the village of Colebrook River; Colebrook Ct - Sep 2016 2 commentsVern WellsFeb 09, 2017

PaulaWB.jpgPaula Shares a Classic4 viewsI figured I'd get these photos from our club's visit to the Women's Breakfast up before our meeting tonight. (Paula, Dorrie, Gene, Wanda and I shared some of our photos and thoughts on photography and the camera club with a very hospitable group of ladies) Here Paula shares and discusses one of her shots while Gene drives the computer and projector.Ed HodgsonFeb 06, 2017

TheMoraine.jpgThe Moraine5 viewsThe scale of the terminal moraine we found as we continued up the trail told us a lot about the unseen glaciers and mountain peaks above us.Ed HodgsonJan 31, 2017
OhhMy2121.jpgOhhhh My!8 viewsAs we climbed to the top of a steep bit of trail along one of the lateral moraines for the Victoria Glacier a small rift in the clouds above us revealed a glimpse of snow capped mountain peak at an impossibly high angle in the sky bringing sudden awareness of and amazement at the unseen and unexpected grandeur around us.2 commentsEd HodgsonJan 31, 2017
