Sunrise-Sunset1.jpgSunrise Sunset - Edited7 viewsThanks to those who commented on this image Monday. Although I liked it as an element in the picture, I can see that the streetlight draws the viewers eye off to the edge of the picture. I experimented with cropping, but had no room to crop on top or bottom of the image adn wasn't crazy about the more square format that resulted form cropping off the edge only. A little clone work was the alternative I chose. Do you agree that this improves the image.2 commentsEd HodgsonOct 05, 2017
Natural_Landscapes1.jpgNatural Landscapes - What You Should Have Seen6 viewsI was puzzled by the crop comments on this image from Monday night until I played around a little bit and noticed that the program we were using crops images unless directed to full screen display. In this case, it cut off the top of the tree. This leads to the question - " is the tree too high in this frame?" Thanks for your detailed comments Monday and your thoughts on this question.4 commentsEd HodgsonOct 05, 2017

AmericanLady.jpgAmerican Lady Butterfly6 viewsSince it was a topic of some discussion at teh meeting last night, I figured I'd post a couple of images that clearly show the principal visual difference between American Lady and Painted Lady Butterflies. Note especially the underside of the hind wings.Ed HodgsonOct 03, 2017

Cardinalflower2017.jpgSeptember Surprise10 viewsI was surprised while walking along the rail trail north from Suffield last week to find these cardinal flowers still blooming by a little beaver dam. I thought it made a nice scene.1 commentsEd HodgsonSep 18, 2017
Paintedlady.jpgPainted Lady at Work12 viewsI found this painted lady butterfly at work in the Granby Community Garden along Hungary Road. I thought this bright pink Zinnia made a nice perch for her.Ed HodgsonSep 18, 2017
Monarch2017.jpgS'il Fait Beaux Temps ....12 viewsThis monarch butterfly and bumble bee side by side on my wife's Chareopteris reminded me of the Aesop's fable about the bee and the butterfly they used to try and teach us French in high school. I guess it must have worked a little bit - still there after all those years.Ed HodgsonSep 18, 2017
Butterfly_3_Lo_Res.jpg12 viewsI spent a few hours over two days this last weekend at Garlic Farms. I thought I might get some shots of the flowers in the back of the barn. I noticed butterflys among the flowers and started shooting.Jay HarderSep 18, 2017
