    A Perky Possum

I had a rare encounter (for me at least) back in mid November when I spotted this little fellow foraging along the margins of Quarry Road in late morning. This is one of the photos I got as he continued grazing after I stopped the car and got out.

Nice shot, Ed. I've never seen one in daylight hours. Wonder what got into this one to venture out before dark.

Nor have I, Vern. I often see them around dawn and dusk as well as during the night, but not in full daylight, so it was a rare photo opportunity for me. I was quite cautious around him as I suspected he might be sick, but he seemed interested only in browsing for what he could eat in the brush along the roadside. Perhaps he had a better sense of the weather ahead than we had and figured he'd better eat while the eating was good.
